Dog Sledding at the Winterfest

This weekend was full of winter activities!  The snow has been rather scarce this season so while we had some, we thought we better take advantage of it.  We hit up some sledding on Saturday.  Sully loved it more than any of us :)  Parker really wanted to crawl in the snow but quickly realized he couldn't when his hands sunk in the snow which resulted in a cold snowy face plant...poor little guy.

Sunday we headed to the River Bend Winterfest in Faribault, MN.  It was about 11-15 degrees outside so we all bundled in our snow outfits!  Not sure what the wind chill was.
We had a wonderful horse drawn sleigh ride...the Belgium horses were huge and so beautiful, especially against the white snow.

Kimmy, Parker, and I tried out the Kicksleds...they were work!  It was kind of like a skateboard on snow.  Definitely like the idea of something pulling my sled instead of me pushing it :)

And lastly, we got to go on a dog sledding ride. The huskies were awesome...if Sully had a little more fur on him, he would totally be at the front of the pack. We learned there are two different types of huskies, some are better for endurance while some are better for strength.  I loved the ones with the pretty light blue eyes :)  Here are some pics, but Kimmy took more that I will have to get from her.

And to finish off the fun filled weekend, we built this really really huge snowman!!!
Haha, just kidding...instead we had a dance off in our living room :)  Truck driver is for you Skinny.
Dog sledding...check!

Ten Months

Dear Parker, you are 10 months old!!!

You weigh about 18 pounds now.
You wear a size 3 diaper.
You wear 12 months tops and 9 month britches.
You are a size 3 shoe. You don't ever like putting them on, but it is too cold not to wear them.
You love playing with the clean silverware while Mommy unloads.

 First real cheerios!!!

You are a slightly picky eater, but you really love feeding yourself.  You really have no desire for baby food anymore.  Your favorite is greek yogurt. I can usually pair it with anything and you will eat it. The only thing you really don't like is anything green still. Even if I pair it with yogurt, I can't trick you.  You basically want anything Mom is eating :)  You also think it is really funny to feed Sully your food.
You are still sleeping pretty good. Most nights you only get up once around 5-ish. We usually bring you in our bed at that time and you quickly fall back asleep with some boob juice. You usually take two naps still.

You have really started to get the hang of pushing things and walking with things, whether it is your walker or the laundry basket.  If you happen to run into something, you back it up and turn it and keep on going. BUT you do have a slight temper that's starting to show up ever so often when you get yourself wedged in a corner and can't get out...you squeal until I come help you.
You are a busy boy. You are crawling everywhere FAST and of course your favorite things are the toilet, plugs, and the dog bowl. Sully's bowl is now on top of the kitchen table and although we have safety plug thingys, you can still get them out occasionally. You are constantly pulling up and standing on things. You haven't tried to go from one object to the next while standing though...thank goodness, maybe a few more weeks until you start walking.
You can dance and clap now...check out the mad dancing skills to SuperWhy!...
You have three teeth and your fourth is just right there. You have been eating your hand lately and playing with your tongue, so I know the fourth is on its way.

You are still pretty easy to take places. However, when we get around big crowds or noisy places you tend to clam up.  I guess you get your shyness from your Momma :)  I'm sure your Daddy will rub off on you in the future. During childcare, you usually only can last about an hour until you realize that I'm not there.  You are spoiled rotten...you are starting to smell :)

Your favorite toys right now are your ABC blocks...you love to throw them.  Your farm house you got for Christmas...you love to open and close the gates, put all the animals in the silo, and dance to the music it plays. You love to drive your tractors and hot wheels everywhere.  You also love to ram your popper into everything and make great noise with it...thanks Aunt Kim :)

I can't believe how quickly this year has gone.  Your hair is getting so, so long and your Daddy has made me promise to get it cut before your first birthday...hehe, we will see.

I love you more than you know,
Mommy

New Year's!

For New Year's Eve this year, we sadly didn't get to spend it with Kari and Skinny again.  But we went over to Kimmy and Nick's house for some food and beverages!  Kimmy had the place decorated with super cute decor.  We had a grand time...Parker almost made it to midnight, but he finally fell asleep around 11.  We even got a beautiful snow to bring in the new year!!!

 Family picture!
When you hang out with fresh college graduates...it usually involves some type of beverage game :)
 Kimmy's cute decorations.
Beautiful snow to ring in the year.

Christmas Time

Finally getting around to posting our Christmas festivities.  Parker and I flew in to Texas a week early to spent some time with the grandparents.  We didn't get into too much, just wrapped all of our shipped presents, went to Victoria one day with Nana and Kimberly for some last minute shopping, and got my teeth cleaned at my favorite dental office :)

Patrick flew in the Wednesday before Christmas.  We spent Christmas with the Freytag's first.  As always it took us about four hours to open presents...love it.  The winner of the funniest present was from the Knights!  I've seen them on Pinterest before, but she got us those cups with different noses on them.  So when you drink from them, it looks like your nose...hilarious...we had a good long laugh with these.  Mom made an amazing Christmas dinner of prime rib...to die for!  The whole meal was out of this world...props to Mom!  The kiddos all had a great time ripping open the presents, riding the go-kart, and playing with all of their new toys.

We spent the real Christmas Eve and Christmas day with the Heberts.  We all went to the children's mass on Christmas Eve.  All the grandkids looked so cute all dressed up!  We had Italian sausage that evening...a Hebert tradition.  Christmas morning we all woke up and saw what Santa brought and then opened gifts.  Parker didn't quite get the concept of Santa this year but he had a blast checking out his new toys.  And of course, he had just as much fun with the boxes and wrapping paper.  Sherry made her famous spaghetti and homemade meatballs for Christmas day lunch and Mark made some delicious fried chicken. Aunt Terry and Robbie came for the afternoon and the rest of the day we just chilled.

It was a wondeful, wonderful Christmas.  We were sad we didn't get to spend it with the Knight's and Suzy and Coop though...boooo.  We are so blesses to have such loving families!

There were too many pictures, so I made a smilebox for your enjoyment :)

New Tooth!

Yesterday (January 11th), Parker's first top tooth poked out!  I would love to post a pick, but that is not happening anytime soon or until it is all the way out.  I think we may have a snaggle toothed boy on our hands for a while...hope its companion comes in soon :)

Brush 'em, brush 'em, brush 'em...

4th Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party

Back in December we hosted one of our favorite parties...the tacky sweater party, although this year was a little different.  First off, we actually needed the sweaters this year!!! And a coat and snow boots :)  And second, nobody was there who was at the party last year :(  But that's okay, because we had a new awesome group of friends that showed up in their Christmas bells and green and red.

Jen helped me tackily decorate our house.  I must say it looked pretty good with the snowflakes, paper garland, ornaments, etc.

We gave out prizes this year for the ugly, uglier, and ugliest sweater....first place won a Colt 45...classic.  And the winners were...the old guys!
1st: AJ
2nd: Patrick
3rd: Lance

Who knows where we will be for next year's Tacky Sweater Party!   But can't wait :)
