After several garage sales we are ready!!! Or at least Parker is! We have found 3 snow suits..6-9 months, 9 months, and 12 months. Does that give you an idea of how long there is going to be snow on the ground here...yikes. We also found some warm fuzzy outfits and cute little gloves and hats. The Knights also stocked us with some good winter apparel as well...thanks :)
Here are just a few of our finds...
We also ran across a used snow blower...oh we are learning so much. Sooooo, silly me thought a snow blower looked like a leaf blower...nice a small, light weight. No...little did I know, this thing is big...larger and taller than a lawn mower! Not sure how exactly it works, but I'm hoping if I don't figure it out then I won't ever have to use it :)
Parker loves his high chair!

First Solids, Bath Time, and the Weekend
This weekend we had a great time! We didn't have any plans going into it, but managed to fill it up pretty easily. Friday we ended up going bowling at the local bowling alley. I broke 100 which is definitely a rare thing :) All of Patrick's classmates were there as well and some of them were really good! Saturday we ended up going back to the Owatonna "beach". This weekend was the Hebert's annual beach/Rockport vacation...so we had to pretend we were there :( We definitely missed it.
After getting some rays, we went to church and tried a new restaurant in town...Torey's. It was supposed to be wonderful and we thought it was just mediocre. Patrick ordered Walleye, which is a type of fish up here, and it was super bland. He actually complained and they said that's just what it tastes like...bring on the Chachere's!!! We relaxed for the evening with a t-storm, Parker's first attempt at solids, bath time, and the movie Cedar Rapids. It makes fun of insurance sales agents...how appropriate :)
Parker really enjoyed his first attempt with rice formula! He is almost 5 months which seems a little early to me, since we are still breastfeeding, but we thought we would just try and see what happened. He definitely liked the taste and probably half of it made it in his mouth :) I made it pretty watery so it was almost like pouring it in his mouth. But he didn't choke or make a yucky face. He did want to chew on the spoon though and grab it!
Today Patrick played a round of golf while Parker and I did chores around the house and chilled. Patrick has his first big presentation/speech this Tuesday, so he is practicing for that now. Wish him luck!
Oh yes, I almost forgot...yesterday my niece Aubrey had her 3rd Bday Princess Party. We obviously couldn't make it but it looked like loads of fun...wish we could have been there :( Mom made party princess dresses for all of the little girls...too cute!
Mom-we used the Gorillapod to take this photo..worked great!!! |

Send some love to your military friends...
Soooo, ever so often I check out the Krazy Coupon Lady website. Just to see if something gets me excited or there is actually something I use.
Well, today I saw a FREE offer that I thought I should share. If you know anyone in the military that has a APO, FPO, or MPO address, you can create them a 20 page 5x7 personal photo book and the USO will pay for the shipping. No money involved from what I could tell!
If you know someone who is away from their family right now fighting for our country, take a few moments and help brighten their day :)

My Husband is no longer Zac Morris :(
We finally gave in and got Patrick a new phone...and what did we get...the iphone! Yes, we gave in to modern society. We said we never would, but we figured he would need it for work eventually.
It looks a little odd when his phone rings...I look over and he slides his finger across the screen to answer. No more pulling up the antenna and flipping it open...it will be missed, but not that much :)
Next question --- When will Kelly Kapowski get her iphone????

Little Taste of the Amazon...
So today in Owatonna it is 115 degrees! Most people up here are dying, but it feels kind of like home for us. It literally feels like a sauna when you walk outside...thick...sticky...eww.
What happened to the cool weather??? That was supposed to be a perk about moving up here.
They actually have Severe Heat Warnings that get displayed at the bottom of the tv...like one for a tornado or t-storm :)
Thankfully we should get some relief on Thursday...back in the 80's!!! Just in time for our Twins game!

4 months old!
Okay little guy, I am still two weeks behind again...
Parker,
Four months is a fun age so far! Over the last month you have become a little more independent. You have started noticing your surroundings so much more. You will follow me around the room where ever I go, really focus on bright/colorful things, and have started reaching for stuff...like hair, food, toys, etc. You are still using your hands a lot to soothe yourself. You love your Sophie...you sit and chew on it and slobber on it and it can entertain you for at least five minutes :) You smile all the time now and ever so often we hear a chuckle. You laugh at yourself in mirrors, which is really cute. And you have started to drool everywhere...sometimes I have to change your outfit because it is drenched. Toys you love...jumperoo, floormat play thingy, Sophie, and your chew toy keys. You are wearing 3 month clothes still, but it won't be long and you will be too long for them, and you are in size 1 diapers. If I prop you up on your elbows you can roll from your belly to your back! You are still pretty portable...we take you everywhere. You can still fall asleep in your momma's arms if we are out and about, so we don't have to plan anything around your naps yet...yahoo!
Our friend, Kimmy, wanted to practice her photography skills on you. She did a great job!
I never thought we could love something soooo much. You are the love of our life right now and we can't get enough of you :) God has truly given us a gift and that gift is you. Love you!!!
Momma
4 month stats:
Height: 25.31 in (56.10%)
Weight: 13.25 lb (12.80%)
Head: 16.97 in (65.69%)

Belly to Back!!!
Parker has been making the move from his belly to back...yahoo! What a milestone :) Check out the video...
"Roll over, roll over." So they all rolled over and one fell out, there were two in the bed and the little one said...
Such a proud Momma :)
We also set up the jumperoo today...he loved it even though his feet don't touch the ground yet.

The 4th Festivities in MN
Well this year's 4th of July was a little different. No beach trip to the Island House, no seagulls, no waves, and most importantly no family :( This weekend was the first time we felt a little homesick. However, considering the circumstances we still had a great relaxing weekend.
Friday we headed to the Country Club after Patrick got off school. He played a round of golf with the guys, while Parker and I went to the pool with the girls. Us and two other couple's had dinner after they were done playing and while we were waiting for our food, we had our first tornado drill! We get a few tornadoes in Texas, but apparently MN has lots. We watched the storm roll in and they made us leave our table and head to the basement. Our friends from Oklahoma were tornado experts and they helped bring comfort to the situation. They told us we had nothing to worry about :) We survived, but I felt like I was back in elementary school going through a fire drill again.
Saturday we headed to the Owatonna "beach" on Lake Kohlmeier. It was actually a pretty good substitution and made us feel like we were at the real beach. Parker loved the water and the weather was nice and sunny. That evening we went to the Hubbell House Restaurant . It used to be an old stage coach stop and was built in 1856. Neat building and so much history.
Sunday included church, another round of golf for Patrick, and a trip to the outlet mall for the sales.
And Monday, July 4th, we had plans to play putt-putt golf to continue our yearly tradition but unfortunately we ran out of time. We had some friends over at the house for burgers and dogs. We also wished we could go to the firework show here in town but since it gets dark here so late, the show didn't start until ten pm....too late for Mr. Parker. We could actually see them from our house...they were just tiny :)
Overall it was a great weekend, however we are already looking forward to next year's beach trip with a little one year old Parker running all over the sand! It will be fun. Now back to the daily grind of studying for Patrick. Not sure what this week holds for us :)

We really need to get a tan. |
